Rapid increase of land degradation due to jhumming, deforestation etc., threatening a crisis in ecological balance and affecting farming communities urges the need to develop inter-alia policy to encourage Oil Palm cultivation in Mizoram. The crop stands ideal having capability to repair degraded land, provide ecological balance and providing a secure and more lucrative income source for the poor farmers. Mizoram offers an ideal climate with maximum temperature ranging from 23o - 29o C and minimum temperature ranging from 13o - 20o C.
